flood_badinBADIN: More than 56 national and international NGOs have joined hands in Badin to assist 1.6 million flood victims in Badin.

Shamsul Hassan Memon, National Disaster Management Authority's (NDMA's) Coordinator for Badin said these NGOs in close collaboration with district administration have focussed their relief work in providing food, tents, hygiene and healthcare.

People, affected due to over flowing drains and floods, in 46 different union councils of Badin, Tando Bago, Talhar, Matli and Golarchi have been particularly focussed under the arrangement, he said.

Giving a break-up of support being extended, he said 10 NGOs have taken upon themselves the responsibility to provide food to these victims and another 16 NGOs are arranging tents for them.

Eighteen other NGOs are actively involved to ensure cleanliness and essential hygiene for the sufferers with 18 NGOs providing them the needed health and medical care facilities, he said.

These NGOs, Memon said, are also supplemented by 12 NGOs that have taken upon themselves to meet the additional needs of the flood victims in the four above mentioned sectors, including food, shelter, hygiene and healthcare.

Shamsul Hasan Memon said NDMA has provided 2,72,954 family ration bags for distribution in Badin and is arranging more of these for the sufferers.
