Meryl Streep, a three-time Oscar winner from her 18 nominations, has now become the most nominated artist in the Oscar history by getting her 19th Academy Awards nomination for ‘Best Supporting Actress’ in ‘Into the Woods’.
According to foreign media reports, Streep began Thursday morning with the news that she’d snagged her 19th nod from the Academy, for ‘Into the Woods’, meaning she continues to lord over Jack Nicholson and Katharine Hepburn, whose 12 nominations each make them the second most-nominated stars.
‘The Iron Lady’ will be competing in a supporting role category along with Patricia Arquette for ‘Boyhood’, Emma Stone for ‘Birdman’, Laura Dern for ‘Wild’ and Keira Knightley for ‘The Imitation Game’.
Streep has previously earned Oscar nominations for her role in ‘One True Thing’, ‘Adaptation’, ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, ‘Julie and Julia’ and ‘The Iron Lady’.
The veteran actress has been praised for her versatile acting on many platforms, she has also won several Golden Globe awards, Academy awards, Critics awards and People’s Choice awards.
