KARACHI: The Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan, Hiroshi Inomata, has stressed the need for consistency in the government policies and better governance.
Speaking at the interactive talk on "Economic relations between Pakistan and Japan" organized here by the Pakistan-Japan Business Forum (PJBF), he elaborated upon various important projects such as in the energy, infrastructure and social sectors which is aimed to help the common man in Pakistan.
On the Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) to Pakistan, Ambassador Inomata indicated that as of 2012, an amount of Yen 1,273 billion was dispersed to Pakistan with 976 billion in loan, 249 billion in grant, and 48 billion in Technical Cooperation.
As to further investment, he pointed out the anomalies that need to be addressed and indicated that Japanese Association of Commerce and Industry (JACI) has put together a proposal to be discussed with the Government of Pakistan which also included Automobile Industrial Policy and Tax Issues.
He was upbeat on the future prospects but expressed concern over the matters of security and infrastructure.
Welcoming the Ambassador, the Chairman of the Forum, Sohail P. Ahmed elaborated upon the functioning of the PJBF and the need to further improve bilateral trade and investment.
He mentioned in detail various efforts made by PJBF to bring the business communities of the two nations closer.
Prominent businessmen, members of the diplomatic corps stationed in Karachi as well as a number of notables participated in the event.
