PSO prevents oil theft worth millions of rupees

imageISLAMABAD: The state-owned oil marketing company-Pakistan State Oil's (PSO) security staff has foiled an oil theft attempt worth millions of rupees, after unearthing a mud passage near the Lalpir-Kapco pipeline.

The company's spokesperson says the PSO security staff, which was on routine patrolling duty along the Lalpir - Kapco pipeline noticed the presence of black slush and a pit near Sinawan.

The PSO depot officer visited the location to prevent the un-authorized or illegal activity and the company made immediate arrangements for the excavation of the suspected area.

The official added during the digging activity a three-foot wide mud passage was discovered approximately five feet away from the oil pipeline.

"This attempt at pilferage was foiled due to the strong vigilance of the PSO staff and resulted in prevention of oil theft worth millions of rupees," the spokesperson remarked.

The official said the PSO had filed an application in the concerned local police station to ensure the miscreants were caught and brought to justice.

The spokesperson also informed the Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO), the oil marketing leader and one of the largest companies in Pakistan has undertaken a major human resource development and organizational transformation initiative in line with best international practices.

In this regard, the official said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the Center for Governance and Public Management (CGPM), Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).

"By signing this MoU, PSO and CGPM, SBDS will initiate efforts to build PSO's organizational capacity through assessment of organizational development needs and structuring of training programs for different tiers of the organization," the spokesperson added.

Pakistan State Oil believes in the development of its human resources for increased employee productivity and improved Company performance. The strategic alliance with LUMS can help achieve the human resource and organizational development objectives of PSO, the official added.
