KARACHI: As many as 90 shopkeepers were challaned and a fine of Rs 134000 was recovered from them for overcharging in violation to the price list of essential commodities.
The shopkeepers were challaned by the assistant commissioners of sub-divisions, deputy commissioners of five districts of the city, on the directives of Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi during the crackdown against violators of price lists of daily commodities, said a statement on Wednesday.
It said 21 milk sellers, six fruits vendors, 25 vegetable merchants, 13 grocers, 23 chicken sellers and two flour sellers were challaned for violating price list.
The Commissioner Karachi said that the crackdown against profiteers will continue, till the time the sale of essential items is not ensured in accordance with the price list.
