ISLAMABAD: The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) has underlined the need for taking solid measures to resolve issues of the CNG's sector in order to extend relief to consumers.
The association's spokesman told APP that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority(OGRA) had decided to review its policy regarding closing of CNG stations in residential areas and added the move would help resolve issues.
He said the association had received a fresh letter which clearly revealed that earlier one, which had asked for disconnecting gas supply to CNG stations which operate in residential areas near schools, mosques and hospitals etc, had been superseded.
Replying to a question, he added, the question still remained that why and how was behind the entire conspiracy to spoil the CNG sector.
Earlier, the association's Chairman Supreme Council Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha had warned that all CNG stations would be closed in a protest across the country if issues of the CNG sector were not resolved.
He had alleged Ogra had been violating its own rules and misguiding courts in a bid to destroy Rs400 billion CNG sector to please powerful energy mafia.
He had said thousands of licenses of the CNG operators had been cancelled illegally on the pretext of clause 18 of the CNG rules 1992 wherein there is no mention of cancellation of licenses,
He had revealed Ogra had been hatching conspiracies against the CNG sector since long leaving the CNG sector and the owners of 3.5 million vehicles converted on CNG in the lurch.
Ghiyas Paracha had said, "we have established world's No. 1 CNG industry by investing Rs400 billion which reduced environmental degradation, reduced inflation, saved billion in oil import bill and facilitated masses in every nook and corned of the country."
He had said the CNG sector said that 90 per cent vehicles had been converted to CNG, paid highest taxes while using minimum amount of natural gas on 100 per cent efficiency and provided jobs to millions.
