LAHORE: Lahore chamber of Commerce & Industry here on Tuesday called upon the government to provide an opportunity to small and medium players in the beverage industry to explain their point of view before the imposition of capacity tax.
LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar stated this, while talking to a delegation of Pakistan Beverage Association led by its Ex-Chairman Ikram Elahi.
On this occasion, Ikram Elahi said that Capacity Tax would hit hard the low-profile international and local brands and "We request the government review its decision in this regard.
"In this modern age, he suggested, cameras could be installed to monitor the production and clearance of the beverage unites along with reintroduction of supervised clearance for at-least a period of three years that would enable the government to evaluate and determine the actual sales and clearances of the beverage industry of Pakistan.
He said the government should take the beverage industry owners on board prior to imposition of the capacity tax.
While, the LCCI President assured the delegation that Beverage Association's concerns would be conveyed to Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
