yuvraj-singh_400_thumb307_NEW DELHI: India on Thursday axed left-hander Yuvraj Singh for next week's third and final Test against the West Indies, replacing him with middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma.

Sharma's inclusion for the Mumbai Test from Tuesday was the only change from the 15-man squad that won the first two matches in New Delhi and Kolkata for a decisive 2-0 lead in the series.

Yuvraj was dropped after he made just 66 runs from three innings in the series at an average of 22.

Sharma, 24, who has yet to play a Test despite making 67 one-day international appearances, forced his way into the squad with back-to-back centuries in first-class cricket.

Sharma, however, faces competition from Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane for the number six spot in the Indian batting line-up for the game at Mumbai's Wankhede stadium.

INDIA'S SQUAD FOR THIRD TEST:

Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Venkatsai Laxman, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha, Rahul Sharma, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron.

COACH: Duncan Fletcher (ZIM)
