KIGALI: A grenade attack killed at least one person in the Rwandan capital Kigali on Friday, three days before elections, police said.
Police said another 14 people were wounded in the attack, which struck a busy market at around 6.30pm (1630 GMT).
"The figure that we have now is one dead and 14 injured," said police spokesman Damas Gatare, adding that three people had been detained and an investigation was under way.
No one has claimed the attack in Kigali, known as one of Africa's safest capital cities.
Authorities blamed two similar attacks in March and July on dissidents and Hutu rebels from the FDLR, or Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda, based in the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo.
Rwandans go to the polls on Monday for parliamentary elections expected to be dominated by President Paul Kagame's ruling Rwandan Patriotic Front.
