China, Malaysia raise voice for Kashmiris in UNGA address

• "No actions that would unilaterally change the status quo should be taken," Wang YI said in his speech
• "Ignoring the UN would lead to other forms of disregard for the UN and the rule of law," Malaysian PM said.

In their address to the United Nation General Assembly, both China and Malaysia raised the Kashmir issue and called for a peaceful solution for it.

During his address, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the Kashmir issue which is a dispute left from the past, should be peacefully and properly resolved. The Chinese FM said that no actions that would unilaterally change the status quo should be taken.

YI added that the dispute should be solved based on the UN Charter, relevant UN Security Council resolutions and bilateral agreements, adding that China opposes any unilateral actions that complicate the situation. He hoped that stability will soon be restored between Pakistan and India.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad also addressed Kashmir issue and called on India to work with Pakistan and resolve the dispute. "Ignoring the UN would lead to other forms of disregard for the UN and the Rule of Law," Mohamad added.

He said that despite UN resolution, IoK has been invaded and occupied. He further said whatever the reasons behind India's action in stripping of the special status given to IoK, it is still wrong.
