An Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG-21 crashed on Wednesday near Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh airbase during a routine training.

The aircraft was on a routine training mission and both pilots, a group captain and a squadron leader managed to eject safely, Indian media reported. The IAF has ordered a court of inquiry to ascertain the cause of the accident.

This year in June, the India Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik in a statement said that 27 IAF aircrafts have crashed since 2016 including 15 fighter jets and helicopters.
