The driver of a Porsche 911 Carrera, which is steered by computer, hardly ever needs to intervene. All test data is stored in the on-board computer. Porsche spends over ten percent of its turnover on the development of new models. At Europe's car research centers billions are expended to make tomorrow's automobile safer, more economical, lighter and less damaging to the environment. Speedy application of research results in marketable products is the key to success.
