Minister for Women Development and Youth Affairs Sumaira Malik on Sunday said that the women's participation at every level was pre-requisite to expedite pace of socio-economic development of the country.
Talking to APP, the minister said that priority was being accorded to women development and a favourable change had taken place towards women's participation in mainstream of national development in wake of the government's effective policies.
Replying to a question, the minister said that Pakistani people wanted their country progressive and moderate one and a greater women's contributions in national development, but due to flawed policies in past, their aspirations could not materialise to this effect.
"I want to achieve prosperous Pakistan through empowered women and youth and my efforts to achieve this objective being a head of challenging ministries (Women Development and Youth Affairs)", the minister said.
She added that government was focusing more to resolve issues of youth at the earliest.
She also stressed the need for promoting ideas and thoughts of Allama Iqbal among the youth to achieve prosperous Pakistan as envisioned by Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Referring to Women International Day, she said that arrangements had been made to renew commitment to empowering women politically, socially and economically for prosperity of the entire society.
The message with reference to the Day, she said Pakistani women would continue to play their role in national development process, peace, love and harmony.
She said that the government was determinant to reinforce their role in national development through legislative steps.
Answering another question, she said enactment of Women Protection Bill would restore women's prestige and status in line with Islamic values and serve as a milestone toward empowerment of women in the country.
