ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervez Rashid Wednesday urged that media play a proactive role to protect interests of nation and check social evils to restore peace in the country.
Talking to a private news channel,on the occaion of 65th death anniversery of nation's father, Minister said that as per the vision of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, government will take every step to ensure the country's sovereignty.
He said media should help encourage investment and highlight rights of consumers.
The Minister said that Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah is supervising the operation against criminals in Karachi.
He stated that all political parties including MQM, PPP and PTI were taken into confidence on steps aimed at restoring peace in Karachi.
He said that all decisions about Karachi were made with consensus. Pervez said that political parties have taken important decisions for making Pakistan a strong country.
The Minister hoped that situation in Karachi and other unrest areas will improve with the passage of time.
