Tedros clashed repeatedly with former US president Donald Trump, who began withdrawing his country from the WHO before President Joe Biden immediately rescinded the move upon taking office in January.
Facebook's oversight board on Wednesday will decide whether to uphold the company’s indefinite suspension of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Several academics and civil rights groups have publicly shared their letters urging the board to block Trump permanently, while Republican lawmakers and some free expression advocates have criticised the decision.
"We've been clear that we will take strong enforcement action on behaviour that has the potential to lead to offline harm," a spokeswoman for Twitter told AFP via email.
A surge in recent days has seen patients' families taking to social media to beg for oxygen supplies and locations of available hospital beds, and has forced the capital New Delhi to extend a week-long lockdown.
Twitter has been ordered by the Indian government to censor 52 tweets that criticized India’s handling of the second surge of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This includes tweets by Revanth Reddy, a sitting Member of Parliament; Moloy Ghatak, a West Bengal state minister; actor Vineet Kumar Singh; and two filmmakers, Vinod Kapri and Avinash Das.
It has also directed local telecom service providers to block access to social media sites, which protesters have skirted by using virtual private networks and foreign SIM cards.
Russia has since March impeded the speed of Twitter for not removing content it deems illegal, and threatened to block it entirely. Photos and videos take longer to load for some users.
"It was a productive discussion about how we can both work to ensure that reports of such illegal content are dealt with expeditiously," it said in a statement.
The Tagansky District Court in Moscow said in a series of statements that it had issued three separate fines against Google of 3.2 million roubles, 3.3 million roubles and 2.4 million roubles.
It said the fines related to offences committed on Jan. 22-24 this year, including "violating the procedure for removing information", all under Russia's Administrative Offences Code.
The company also said board member Jesse Cohn, who is also hedge fund Elliott Management's head of US equity activism, will be nominated for re-election as a class II director.
