Apart from the Senate elections, the two leaders also spoke about the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)’s upcoming long march to Islamabad.
The development was made during the telephonic conversation between the former prime minister and ex-president.
In a telephonic conversation, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief exchanged views on the upcoming Senate polls and the anti-government long march.
They also exchanged views over the Senate candidates from KP and other provinces.
He maintained that opposing open balloting was tantamount to encouraging horse-trading, corruption and sale and purchase of votes as witnessed in the past.
BAP Parliamentary leader said PTI candidates would be supported during Senate elections whereas PTI has assured to support its candidate Taj Muhammad Afridi.
Sheikh along with his fellow lawmakers, Azam Swati, Hammad Azhar and others reached the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office to submit his nomination papers.
He was confident that the PTI will emerge victorious in the upcoming Senate elections.
The ECP said the date has been extended after requests were made by candidates, as well as reports that candidates are facing difficulties in the completion of legal formalities regarding filing of nomination papers.
He said Faisal Vawda should be part of the senate because he is the one of the active and vocal person of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led government.
Issuing a schedule for the Senate elections, set to be held on March 3, the ECP said candidates can file nomination papers with the returning officer on February 12 and February 13.
The Senate polls will see the election of 48 senators.
He said that a letter has been written in this regard to all such departments and sought their support for holding Senate elections in a transparent way.
