Consumption of refined fuels, a proxy for oil demand, rose 7.2% in September from the prior month to 15.47 million tonnes, the first monthly increase since June when demand rose to 16.09 million tonnes.
The higher inventories, which marked three straight weeks of gains, helped to widen the gap from a more than eight-month low hit in the week to Sept. 9.
Onshore fuel oil stocks rose 88,000 barrels, about 14,000 tonnes, on-week to 25.685 million barrels, or 4.045 million tonnes, data from Enterprise Singapore showed.
