On Wednesday, the Islamabad Policy Research Institute held a seminar on “Deconstructing FATF through a Legal Lens”, with a panel of distinguished speakers.
Talking about the rise in power tariff coming in the wake of the government's recent decisions the governor of the central bank said that our aim should be to reduce the circular debt.
“The current amendments are a part of a broader process to modernize the central bank in light of latest developments,” he said.
"This underpins our cautious outlook for private consumption, which we do not see returning to pre-crisis levels before the end of 2022," it concluded.
"In the absence of further climate policies, the costs to companies arising from extreme weather events rise substantially, and greatly increase their probability of default."
