The former cricketer believed that that the national side should opt for coaches with short-term contracts according to the conditions in which a tour is being conducted.
The left-arm pacer made his decision public late last year that he will not be available for selection in the national team under the current management of head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis.
“At the moment Amir has made his decision and we have to respect it. If he hadn’t retired then it would be a different scenario, but at the moment I respect his decision,” he said.
The selection committee, in consultation with the team management, has replaced Saud with Asif Ali, who is already part of the T20I squad for the series in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
As Saud is also part of the two-Test squad against Zimbabwe, he will now stay back at the National High Performance Centre to complete his rehabilitation.
These players – Amad Butt, Faisal Akram, Khushdil Shah, Muhammad Imran, Naseem Shah, Shahnawaz Dahani and Zahid Mahmood – have been invited so that the coaching staff continues to work on their development.
The men’s national selection committee has also invited Azam Khan and Sohaib Maqsood at the National High Performance Centre in Lahore.
