Tourism minister Harry Theoharis said that while regular international passenger flights would be allowed to take off and land again at the airports of Athens and Thessaloniki starting from Monday.
According to the figures issued by the health authorities here Friday, as many as 738 infected people were in isolation including 673 people who were isolated at their homes.
The health ministry said registered cases rose by 10,956 on Friday, a record, with many of them new in the cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. The official death toll, at 8,498, is relatively small, however.
"The spread of coronavirus in society has reached such a level that the use of masks is necessary for everyone," said Ghassem Janbabaee, a deputy health minister.
At least 7,529,910 cases of coronavirus have been registered in 196 countries and territories. Of these, at least 3,361,200 are now considered recovered.
The second supplementary budget for the current fiscal year that began in April, worth 31.9 trillion yen ($299 billion), will fund part of a $1.1 trillion relief package the government unveiled last month.
The health ministry said the number of cases had increased by 10,956 from the previous day, with new infections rife in the cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.
A pandemic risk assessment by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control also predicted a moderate pick-up in infection rates in the coming weeks
In a health ministry bulletin, the Southeast Asian country also recorded 16 additional fatalities related to the novel coronavirus, taking its death toll to 1,052.
