Daily infections have surged in recent weeks from a low of 4,418 on July 4 to 22,291 on Wednesday, but Ankara has said it does not plan to impose restrictions yet. Data on Friday showed a daily death toll of 69 people.
Brent crude oil futures were up 92 cents, or 1.2pc, at $75.66 a barrel by 12:05 ET (1605 GMT), having traded as high as $75.74. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil futures were up 90 cents, or 1.3pc, at $73.29 a barrel.
The ministry on Friday said it would extend a lockdown in the city until Aug. 1 and impose stricter restriction measures in the capital Hanoi from Saturday.
