ISLAMABAD: A six-member delegation of American Postal Security Services on Wednesday arrived here to enhance cooperation with Pakistan Post and discuss various steps for safe delivery of international mail to the United States and Europe.

The delegation's visit is an outcome of a meeting between the officials of two organizations during Universal Postal Union meeting in Switzerland in March this year, said a press release.

The meeting had deliberated on evolving new techniques and systems for safe and sound delivery of international Pakistani mail to the United States and Europe.

Three members of the delegation visited Islamabad and rest three remained at Karachi.

The delegation members visited International Mail Office, Chaklala and met controller and deputy controller. The controller and deputy controller of IMO Lahore and Sialkot also accompanied the delegation.

Director General Pakistan Post Syed Ghulam Panjtan Rizvi directed Director International Post and Deputy Director General Quality Services Hafiz Shakeel Ahmed to carry out the suggestions given by the American delegation.

The American Postal Security Services delegation at Karachi also visited the offices of custom authorities, airport security force and anti-narcotics force those are also in direct line with the disposal and delivery of international mail.

The delegation put forwarded its finals suggestions to the postal authorities in Islamabad and Karachi and appreciated the existing standards of mail security established and operated by Pakistan Post.
