Six killed as van cylinder explodes

SHEIKHUPURA: Five women and a minor girl were killed when a gas cylinder fitted in a school-van exploded in Sachha Sauda area, some 13km away from here, on Wednesday.

Police said lady-teachers of a private school along with a girl were going to Farooqabad from Bhatt village by a van when its gas cylinder exploded near Sachha Sauda in Farooqabad police station limits and the vehicle caught fire.

Resultantly, Shamim Akhtar, Nargis Bibi, Zaiba Bibi, Fauzia Bibi, Fazeelat Bibi and a four-year old girl who has yet to be identified died on the spot.

The injured- Perveen, Ammna and Javed (driver)- were shifted to the DHQ hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.
