SC seeks Punjab govt response on Bahria Town's proposals
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Punjab government to submit its response on proposals submitted by the Bahria Town regarding its housing projects in Rawalpindi and Murree.
A three-member SC implementation bench headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and comprising Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Munib Akhtar heard the case.
During the course of proceedings, Barrister Ali Zaffar, counsel for Bahria Town, said his client had filed two applications in the court.
The Advocate General Punjab said the matter regarding Bahria Town's offer was sent to the Punjab cabinet for consideration.
Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, another counsel for Bahria Town, said the matter of Takht Pari and Loi Bher should also be sent to the Punjab cabinet for consideration.
Justice Azmat Saeed remarked that the 'shamlat' land was not owned by the government.
He observed that mountains had become barren as trees were chopped due to housing societies.
Later, the court sought a report from the Punjab government over Bahria Town's proposals and adjourned the case till June 13.
