This was briefed in the Cabinet Committee for Price Control meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Industry and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal here at Civil Secretariat on Wednesday to review the prices and availability of essential items in Ramazan bazaars and implementation on Ramazan Package-2019.

The meeting expressed its satisfaction over the availability, standard and prices of daily use commodities being sold in Ramazan bazaars. The meeting also decided to eliminate the condition of showing identity card for purchasing sugar.

On this occasion, the minister said that rush of people in 309 Ramazan bazaars was an ample proof that they were getting relief. Subsidy of billion of rupees was being given by the government for providing essential items at reasonable rates at Ramazan bazaars.

He said that edibles were being sold in Ramazan bazaars according to the prices of 2018. Crackdown would continue against those creating artificial price-hike, hoarders and profiteers and no compromise would be made in this regard.

The minister directed the authorities concerned to keep a vigilant eye on the demand and supply of essential items in open markets as well as Ramazan bazaars.

Commissioners and deputy commissioners should monitor the procedure of auction by visiting markets. He said that price control mechanism should strictly be implemented.

Earlier, Punjab Indutries Department Secretary Tahir Khursheed briefed the meeting about the arrangements in Ramazan Bazaars.
