SHC moved against oil price hike

A SHC bench heard a plea against the recent hike in price of petroleum products. It asked the federal government, petroleum ministry and other authorities concerned  to ensure submission of their reply over the issue during the next hearing to be held on May 16.

On May 3, a Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting had approved an increase in prices of petroleum products as much as Rs 9 per litre for the month of May.

With the increase, the per litre price of petrol stands at Rs 108. The meeting also approved the proposed increase in diesel price by Rs 4.89 per litre, light diesel by Rs  6.40 and kerosene oil by Rs 7.46.
