KARACHI: The oath taking ceremony of newly elected Deputy Mayor Karachi Syed Arshad Hasan was held in the Gulshan-e-Jinnah (Old Polo Ground) here on Thursday. Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar administered the oath to the Deputy Mayor, said a statement.

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Communication Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, MQM-Pakistan parliamentary leader in the Sindh Assembly Kanwar Naveed Jamil, MNA Amin-ul-Haq and others were also present.

Speaking on the occasion the Mayor Karachi said that this is another success of us which is the result of continuous struggle.  "We all as elected representatives of workers have the same aim to solve the problems of Karachi and to play our role in this struggle to bring improvement in this city," he added.

He said, "We are moving forward with the same spirit we started earlier for the people of Karachi," he added. The Deputy Mayor Syed Arshad Hasan in his speech thanked for supporting him.

He said that it is a big responsibility on his shoulders to contribute in the works for betterment in the city and to provide relief to the people by solving their problems.

He said that local bodies are considered nursery of democracy.

Later, the Deputy Mayor Karachi paid a visit to the Mausoleum of the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah and offered fateha.
