Presiding over a departmental meeting at DGPR Punjab here Thursday, he said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was fully aware of importance of strengthening the journalist bodies for continuity of democracy and journalistic liberties in society.

"The role of media cannot be ignored in promoting public opinion and highlighting government policies and priorities before the public," he added.

The minister said that the government was striving to remove hurdles in the way of advertisement dues payment to the media houses. "For the purpose, the government departments and other institutions are being contacted so that the media houses could be paid their pending dues at the earliest," he added.

He said that the government believed in maintaining cordial relations with the media and continuous liaison with the media industry was the symbol of success of any government.

"The PTI government considers media as a necessary bridge between the government and the public and gives due importance to it," the minister said.

There was no doubt that the media is reflective of society and the governments who formulate their policies in the light of media reports can never fail, the minister said.

Secretary Information Momin Agha, DGPR Punjab Dr Muhammad Aslam Dogar and other officers were also present.
