Punjab public sector companies advised to get clearance from NAB

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Local Government & Community Development (LG&CD) Punjab Raja Basharat advised all the 56 public sector companies (PSCs) formed by the previous government to get clearance from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and other investigative agencies to either continue or stop work in future.

He was presiding over a meeting of the Punjab Cabinet Committee on Legislative Business at Darbar Hall Civil Secretariat here Wednesday.

The meeting was also attended by Provincial Minister for Finance Punjab Hashim Jawan Bakht and representatives of departments concerned. The meeting was held to review the performance of 56 PSCs and to take decisions for their future in Punjab.

The Minister said that administrative departments should come in next meeting with complete detail, justifications and logics in favour of each PSC and fully prepared to reach a conclusion. He directed the Secretaries of all departments concerned to ensure their presence in next meeting for conclusive decisions.

He directed all administrative departments to fill the vacant nominations of Board of Directors of each company to overcome present shortcomings.
