MEPCO imposes Rs1.6mn fine on 49 power pilferers

MULTAN: Task Force of Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) imposed fine of over Rs 1.6 millions on 49 power pilferers during a crackdown across 13 districts of the region, on Tuesday.

According to MEPCO office sources, in line with special directions of MEPCO CEO Engineer Tahir Mahmood, the authority's task force along with district administration and police launched a crackdown against power pilferers and caught 49 power pilferers. The task force imposed fine of over Rs 1.6 million for pilfering 86,642 electricity units.

The MEPCO task force also got registered FIRs against 8 power pilferers with the police stations concerned, sources added.
