Chaudhry Nisar asserts he never requested for party ticket to contest election
Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan asserted on Saturday he never requested for the party ticket to contest general election. The estranged leader of the PML-N said this in reaction to a statement made by Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of Nawaz Sharif that it would be decided whether to award the party ticket to Chaudhry Nisar or not.
He said that during his 33-year political career, he never requested for the party ticket to contest the general election. "Who did ask [her] for a ticket?" he posed a question.
He said it seems awarding ticket to him has emerged as a major issue within the party. He asked when he was not an aspirant of the party ticket then why it was being publicly discussed every day.
He further stated: "I do not seek anyone's ticket. My powers lie within my faith in Allah and the people of my constituency." He said people have been showing trust in him since 1985 and hoped they will continue to support him in future as well. Nisar said he prays he does not come across a situation where he has to depend on someone's ticket.
