The Lahore High Court on Friday dismissed petition of a lawyer seeking direction for removal of former president and army chief Gen Pervez Musharraf (retd) as head of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) a political party. The petitioner Muhammad Afaq submitted that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had disqualified Musharraf under Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution to contest 2013 general election. He said he being disqualified could not head a political party. He pointed out that the Supreme Court of Pakistan recently ruled in ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's case that a disqualified person could not head a political party. He therefore sought direction for the ECP to remove Musharraf as president of his party APML. The court dismissed the petition for being not maintainable.
