Government urged to announce policy for export of surplus wheat
Flour millers have urged the government to announce a policy for export of two million tonnes of surplus wheat annually through sea and land route in line with the international prices. They said it would help run closed industrial units besides disposal of surplus wheat. The export of value added wheat products would also bring precious foreign exchange required for strengthening of economy.
These views were expressed by Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA-Punjab) Former Chairman Riaz Mattoo, Mian Riaz and Riaz Ullah Khan while talking to journalists here on Thursday. They said the disposal of surplus wheat through export would also save billions of rupees annually spent on taking care of stored wheat while opening of closed units would generate job opportunities.
