Street crimes on the rise in Islamabad

The incidents of snatching at gunpoint, robberies/burglaries, theft of cars and motorcycles, murder and kidnapping of women registered a rise in the federal capital during the last week. According to data gathered by Business Recorder here on Saturday, over 12 cases of theft including five snatching at gunpoint, 10 cases of carjacking, four cases of kidnapping, and two murder cases were reported to various police stations of the city during the last week.
The most favourite areas for the criminal gangs remained within the limits of Industrial Area, Aabpara, Bhara Kahu and Koral police stations. Industrial Area police station registered two cases of auto theft and one case each of robbery and snatching at gunpoint during the aforementioned period. The thieves stole a bike bearing registration number ANL-625 of one Hussain Farooq from the parking of National University of Modern Languages and lifted another bike bearing registration number RIN-1724 of a person Saeed Khan.
One Kareem-ul-Haq filed a complaint with Industrial Area police station that unknown bandits broke locks of his shop and stole cash, a cell-phone, a UPS and other valuables. In another incident, Arshad Ahmed informed Industrial Area police station that two unknown armed persons riding a bike snatched purse from his daughter, containing cash and other necessary documents.
Bhara Kahu police station registered two cases of kidnapping and one case of snatching at gunpoint. One Aqib Shahzad informed Bhara Kahu police that the accused Ibrar and Anwar have kidnapped his daughter. Another Dildar Hussain filed a complaint with Bhara Kahu police station that accused Zeshan and Roshan Gul have kidnapped his wife.
In another incident, two accused Seerat Shah and Azhar Shah riding a bike allegedly intercepted one Muneeb Azhar and snatched cash from him. They also injured him when he offered resistance in the limits of Bhara Kahu police station. During the period under review, Aabpara police station registered overall three cases of murder, robbery and motor vehicle theft. One Haseeb Ullah lodged a complaint with Aabpara police station that the accused Moeen, Shoaib, Usman and others have allegedly killed his brother Hamad.
In another incident, Majid Akhar informed Aabpara police station that unknown robbers stole cash, gold ornaments and other valuables form his house. Auto thieves stole a bike, bearing registration number RIM-5116 of Asad Ullah, parked in front of his house. Golra police station registered overall three cases of robbery, carjacking and kidnapping. One victim Pervez Khan filed a complaint with Golra police station that unknown robbers broke locks of his shop and stole valuables.
Another Abdur Rehman informed Golra police station that the accused Wajid Hussain and Akhar Hussain have allegedly kidnapped his daughter. The thieves stole a bike (RIO-3687) of Arfan Ullah in another incident.
