Supreme Court body reviews OLMT project

The members of the Special Committee of Experts, constituted by the Supreme Court to oversee the construction of Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project (OLMTP), reported that the results of sound and vibration collected from various monuments falling near the OLMTP are within the allowable limits. To review the progress of work on the project and oversee implementation of the construction of OLMTP in the light of the judgment, a meeting of the Special Committee of Experts, headed by Justice Sayed Zahid Hussain, was held here on Saturday. The meeting was attended by the members of the committee of experts, team of experts and representatives of LDA, NESPAK and Punjab Archaeology Department.
The LDA Director General, Chief Engineer and Managing Director of NESPAK briefed the committee regarding the progress of work on OLMTP from Derra Gujran to Ali Town with the help of drone technology and also about the precautionary measures adopted at and near the historical sites and monuments for their safeguard. The Director General of Archaeology briefed about the steps taken by the LDA, NESPAK and Archaeology in the light of the previous meeting of the Special Committee of Experts held on January 11.
On the occasion, the Chairman reviewed the progress of work and enquired about the measures adopted by the executing agency for the safety and stability of the monuments. Justice Sayed Zahid Hussain directed the Principal National College of Arts and Head of Structure Engineering Division, of Civil Engineering Department, UET, Lahore to pay frequent and surprise visits to the monuments in question to ensure their safety. A detailed inspection visit of the Shalamar Gardens, Gulabi Bagh Gateway and Bhudhu's Tomb was also made by the Chairman and members of the committee of OLMT-Project.
They also paid detailed visits to Depot of OTM-Project at Derra Gujran, and also inspected the yards of train and its bogies.
