The Finance Ministry has agreed for creation of 1,440 posts with financial implication of around Rs 1.3 billion for Directorate of Health and Education of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). Sources said that the approval was contingent on the expenditure to be incurred on these posts will be met from FATA Secretariat budget for 2017-18. They added that 616 posts have been proposed for creation in health directorate and 824 in education. They added that creation of the posts has already been endorsed.
They further stated that FATA Secretariat submitted proposals for creation of 5,545 posts of different categories, involving financial implication of Rs 1.652 billion to Finance Division. The Finance Division conveyed observations, which were formally responded by the FATA Secretariat.
A meeting on the matter was also taken place between FATA Secretariat and Finance Division to finalize 5,545 posts. Sources stated that matter also came under discussion during the meetings of Senate Standing Committee on SAFRON and National Assembly Standing Committee on SAFRON on August 17, 2017 and September 11, 2017.
Subsequently, the matter came under discussion in the meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Finance on October 03, 2017, wherein it was decided that FATA Secretariat will submit SNE proposal of prioritized posts only as per present need.
A proposal for creation of 2,293 posts of different departments/directorates was discussed and finalized in October 2017 in SAFRON Division and during Finance Division's presence, it was agreed that creation of 2,293 posts of different departments of FATA will be recommended in the first phase. Sources further stated that 824 posts were prioritized for Directorate of Education with annual financial implication of Rs 718 million and 616 posts for Directorate of Health involving financial implication of Rs 619 billion.
