The Karachi Port handled 158,096 tonnes of cargo comprising 111,565 tonnes of import cargo and 46,531 tonnes of export cargo including 6,379 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 111,565 tonnes comprised of 34,885 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,384 tonnes of bulk cargo; 29,726 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 20,200 tonnes of coal; 3,276 tonnes of DAP; 6,250 tonnes of rock phosphate and 44,570 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 46,531 tonnes comprised of 32,948 tonnes of containerised cargo; 550 tonnes of bulk cargo and 13,033 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,379 containers comprising of 2,550 containers import and 3,829 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 805 of 20's and 806 of 40's loaded while 03 of 20's and 65 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 798 of 20's and 427 of 40's loaded containers while 809 of 20's and 684 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were six ships namely MOL Emerald, Wieland, Hansa Offenburg, Clemens Schulte, UACC Riyadh and Dream Jasmine carrying containers, oil tanker and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. CMA CGM Narmada, MT Quetta, Hafnia Asia, Bhagavathy, Navios Soleil and Liberty Peace carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and vehicle respectively currently at the berths. There were two ships namely Xin Chang Shu and MT Quetta carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Friday.
There were six vessels viz. Libra, MSC Tasmania, Xin Chang Shu, Northern Discovery, Navios Felicitas and Oriental Protea carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Friday, while five vessels viz. Hyundai Brave, Prosper, CT Confidence, Hankuk Chemi and Viking Chance carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and vehicle respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total export cargo of 5,605 tonnes includes 1,558 tonnes of rice and 4,047 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 294 containers comprising of 81 containers import and 213 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were two ships namely MT Arwa Spirit and MV Imme Oldendroff carrying LNG and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely MV Greco Libero and MT Rising Sun carrying coal and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV MSC Tomoko, MV Morning Star, MV Greco Libero, MV Bulk Electra, MV YM Miranda, MT Epic Sardinia, MT Arwa Spirit, MT Marwab, MV Imme Oldendroff, MT Rising Sun and MT NCC Maha were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, general cargo, coal, soyabean, LNG, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as ten ships namely CV San Felix, CV Hugo Schulte, MV Tamar, MV Navios Coral, MT Royal Jade, MT Maria-III, MT Gas Husky, MT Black Pearl, MT Torm Estrid and MT UACC Riyadh carrying containers, steel coil, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were three vessels viz. CV San Felix, CV Hugo Schulte and CV Prosper carrying containers expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Friday.
There were ten ships namely CV CMA CGM Narval, CV Express Black Sea, MV Beks Cenk, MV Hermane, MV Great-61, MV Forest Park, MT Wilpride, MT Maran Gas Spartro, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Pacific A Dorodchi carrying containers, rice, steel coil, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are three ships namely CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Libra and CV San Felix carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
