SC's suo moto notice: application filed over sale of substandard packaged milk

Barrister Zafarullah Khan of Watan Party Thursday filed a civil miscellaneous application before the apex court in wake of Supreme Court's suo moto notice over sale of substandard packaged milk in the country. During proceedings of the suo moto notice in Lahore and Karachi registries of the apex court, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar observed that the old and young alike are forced to consume cancer-infested milk, adding that formalin, a food preservative, is present inside all packaged milk.
Khan filing application in the matter brought certain information and materials on record for directions regarding labeling of products. Giving a list of a number of multinational companies' products including powdered tea whitener, liquid tea whitener, growing up milk, full cream milk, powder milk, coffee whitener, starter infant formula from zero to six months, follow up formula from six month, and UHT dairy drink, the petitioner urged the apex court to issue directives for displaying labels of tea whitener which is not milk.
