The heavily-guarded federal capital witnessed a significant surge in the incidents of robbery, burglary and theft during the past week as various police stations of the city registered 15 cases of robbery, burglary and theft. According to data gathered by Business Recorder here on Saturday, armed robbers, burglars and thieves struck at 15 different places, depriving citizens of valuables including gold ornaments, cash and mobile phones worth millions of rupees.
Auto-lifters stole three vehicles, four cases of kidnapping and nine cases of dishonoured cheques were reported to various police stations of the city. The criminal gangs had a field day in the limits of Lohi Bher, Tarnol, Bhara Kahu, Ramna and Margalla police stations, During the last week, Lohi Bher police station registered four cases of robbery and burglary. Syed Taqi Abbas of Bahria Town lodged a compliant with Lohi Bher police station that unknown robbers had stolen gold ornaments, cash and other valuables from his house.
In another incident, an accused Tariq Mehmood snatched a mobile phone from Fahad Iqbal in the limits of Lohi Bher police station. During the period, four unknown armed robbers broke into the house of Dr Muhammad Jamil and made the family hostage at gunpoint. They collected cash, mobile phones and other valuables and escaped from the scene. In another incident, the criminal elements looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables from the house of Zahid Hussain located in the limits of Lohi Bher police station.
During the period, Tarnol police station registered one case of auto theft and another case of burglary. Muhammad Younas, a taxi driver lodged a complaint with the Tarnol police station that two armed persons snatched his taxi car (AB-7397), mobile phone and cash from him. Four armed burglars stormed into the shop of Azmat Hayat in the limits of Tarnol police station and made off after looting cash and eight mobile phones at gunpoint.
Bhara Kahu police registered one case each of auto theft and kidnapping during the last week. Car-lifters stole a car bearing registration number LZY-3855 of Muhammad Javed, parked in front of his house. In another incident, Muhammad Masood of Dokh Mohri lodged a complaint with the Bhara Kahu police station that the accused Tasaduq had kidnapped his daughter.
During the period, Ramna police station registered one case each of kidnapping and purse snatching. Syed Asher Abbas lodged a complaint with Ramna police station that some unknown people had kidnapped his brother Syed Sher Abbas. Another victim, Syeda Zuhra informed Ramna police station that unknown robbers had snatched purse from her containing cash and her ATM card.
Margalla police station registered one case each of robbery and kidnapping. Muhammad Latif of sector F-8/1 lodged a complaint with Margalla police station that unknown robbers had stolen laptops and mobile phone from his house. During another incident, Muhammad Hameed informed Margalla police station that the accused Mubasher, Iftikhar and Abdur Rehman had kidnapped his daughter. Secretariat, Khanna, Women and Karachi Company police stations registered one case each of robbery, while Industrial Area and Sabzi Mandi police stations registered one case each of kidnapping and auto theft.
