Concrete blocks placed by the city police at service roads adjacent to Jinnah Avenue, the main thoroughfare of the federal capital, have become garbage dumping ground. The ostensible reason for placing the concrete blocks is security, confirmed by a police officials however, with cars parked from the concrete blocks till Jinnah Avenue, security provided by the blocks seems illusory.
Multi-story buildings which house offices of different organisations including Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and banks are located at these service roads. Staff of these organizations complained to this Business Recorder correspondent about the placement of these blocks stating that they should be removed. Police officials told this correspondent that they have removed the majority of the barricades in different areas of the city but have yet to remove those of service roads as some high rise building are located there; the police is reviewing the situation every month, officials said.
