Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 102,670 tonnes of cargo comprising 71,227 tonnes of import cargo and 31,443 tonnes of export cargo including 3,735 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 71,227 tonnes comprised of 28,327 tonnes of containerised cargo; 16,475 tonnes of general cargo: 10,200 tonnes of rock phosphate and 16,225 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 31,443 tonnes comprised of 21,046 tonnes of containerised cargo and 10,397 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 3,735 containers comprising of 1,821 containers import and 1,914 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 545 of 20's and 592 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 46 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 531 of 20's and 315 of 40's loaded containers while 201 of 20's and 276 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Cosco Sao Paulo, Northern Dependant, MT Quetta, Jin Ji and Vil Baltic carrying containers, oil tanker and steel respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Cosco Boston, Kota Kaya, YM Orchid, Wan Hai-506, Red Cosmos and Vil Baltic carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Hyundai Highness carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday, while two ships namely Cosco Boston and Akdeniz-M carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were two vessels viz. Rowan-3 and Jasco Chang Zhou carrying coal and steel respectively due to arrive on Thursday while twelve vessels viz. Fowairet, CSCL Sydney, APL Japan, MSC Jasmine, Hyundai Long Beach, Pacific Energy, Chemroad Nova, Maistros, Al-Mahboobah, Hoegh Trident, Seacon-7 and Bedford Castle carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas, chemical, vehicle and steel respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

The total import cargo of 137,449 tonnes includes 34,276 tonnes of furnace oil; 12,500 tonnes of palm oil; 29,000 tonnes of LNG; 1,961 tonnes of LPG; 18,813 tonnes of coal; 8,993 tonnes of soyabean oil; 2,190 tonnes of chemical and 29,716 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 44,783 tonnes includes 44,783 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,881 containers comprising of 1,564 containers import and 2,317 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There is one ship namely CV MSC Al-Ghero carrying containers expected to sail on Thursday afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV Maersk Salina, CV MSC Al-Ghero, MV Achilleas-5, MV Saadong Hai Yao, Chem New York, MT Nordic Gas, MT Umm Bab, MT Grand Ace-2, MT Gold Pacific and MT Lahore currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, LPG, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen ships namely CV MSC Lucy, CV MSC Salina, MV Golden Trader, MV Achilleas, MT IGLC Anka, MT Umm Bab, MT Shalamar, MT Lahore, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Ashada, MT Bahra, MT Gold Pacific, MT Grand Ace-2 and MT Bunga Angelica carrying containers, soyabean seeds, coal, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday.
There was one vessel viz. MT IGLC Anka carrying LPG expected to take berth at SSGC LPG Terminal on Thursday.
There were six ships namely CV Suez Canal, CV TG Poseidon, MV Finsse, MT Arietis, MT Brizo and MT Distya Amiya carrying containers, project cargo, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
There are three ships namely CV CNNI Aralico, CV Hugo Schulte and CV MSC Lucy carrying containers are due to arrive on Friday.
