Number of 3G, 4G users reached 37.57 million by end of December
The number of 3G and 4G users in Pakistan reached 37.57 million by end of December 2016 against 36.41 million by November, a report of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) revealed here on Tuesday.
The data showed that the number of 3G/4G subscribers increased in the country from 29 million in June 2016 to over 37 million by end-December, ie, 8 million in last six months. Number of mobile phone users in Pakistan reached 136.49 million by the end of the December 2016 from 135.87 million by the end of the November, which registered an increase of around 0.62 million during the period under review.
According to the PTA report, the number of 3G users of Mobilink, Zong and Telenor reached 12.326 million, 7.134 million and 9.897 million by end-December 2016 as compared to 12.148 million, 6.824 million and 9.504 million by end of November 2016. After continuous decline for over last few months, 3G users of Ufone also witnessed an increase. The users increased from 5.219 million in November to 5.305 million by end of December 2016.
Warid LTE subscribers reached 637,363 by end December 2016 against 635,054 by end of November 2016. The number of 4G (Zong) users jumped from 2,080,720 subscribers during November 2016 to 2,274,157 subscribers by end of December 2016.
Teledensity for cellular mobile reached 69.80 per cent and mobile broadband subscribers reached 40,147,991 by end-December as compared to 39,023,370 by end-November 2016.
