Stent importers want registration with DRAP

The importers and distributors of cardiac stents and medical devices have urged the government to intervene and expedite the registration process of medical devices with Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) so that hospitals could be equipped with latest technology and products.
Representatives of importers and distributors of cardiac stents and medical devises told media at a press briefing here o Tuesday that the doctors and distributors of medical devices were being harassed and defamed after the raid of FIA at Mayo Hospital Lahore which seized sub standard stents. They warned to close down their businesses if smear campaign against them was not stopped.
The representatives of the stents importers namely Faraz Ahmed, Wasim Ijaz and Aamir Rasheed said that stent devices industry is legal entity of Pakistan, which facilitates the people of Pakistan by providing them latest life saving technology and products.
They maintained that the Consultant Cardiologists who use latest life saving technology and products are highly trained professionals who would never get themselves involved in any illegal practices as they understand implanting a stent is a matter of life and death.
They also denied that the stents which were seized by FIA team were fake and sub-standard following raid at Mayo Hospital.
