Activists of Fata Political Alliance on Sunday demanded of the government to merge the tribal belt with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The Alliance also urged the authorities to hold the local government elections in Fata without any further delay.
These demands were made at a press conference jointly addressed by leaders of the Alliance at Landi Kotal Press Club. Those who spoke on the occasion included Jamaat-e-Islami's Murad Hussein and Said Hakeem; Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Malik Khurshid and Imran Shinwari; Pakistan Peoples Party's Zar Hussain and Khyber Youth Forum's Inayat Shah Afridi.
The leaders of the Alliance said that since the atmosphere for a separate province was unfavourable, merger of Fata with KP was the most suitable demand of the tribal belt.
Highlighting the benefits of Fata's merger with the KP, the leaders said such a move would give representation to the tribesmen in the provincial assembly and help in getting sufficient funds for carrying out development projects for the tribal areas.
