PPP stalwart Faisal Saleh Hayat said on Thursday that he had a pressure from the 'other party' as well but he preferred to join PPP, which is a symbol of resistance and people of Pakistan. "My biggest challenge would be to bring the party back to its ideology," he added.
He was talking to media along with Khalid Kharl after visiting the residence of Shakila Rasheed, the widow of a close aide of late Z A Bhutto Sh Rasheed on Thursday. He expressed the hope that the party would get revived under Bilawal Bhutto. "Leadership of Bilawal Bhutto is the prime reason of our return to party," he added. "I have responded to my heart and all set to make the PPP a success story in Punjab," he stressed.
He said Bilawal is a shadow of his mother and grandfather and his decision to join politics is a positive step. According to him, Bilawal's Lahore-Faisalabad rally on 19th January would be an impressive political show where he would make a formal announcement of his return to party.
He said that many other old guards are also set to return to the PPP because of its anti-status quo posture. He clarified that the role of PPP Patriot in 2002 was equal to what the PPP did in 2007 in the name of reconciliation. "I am stick to my stance against Raja Pervez Ashraf hundred percent because it was a matter of principle," he said. He said Imran Khan has played a role of an effective opposition but still he has to learn a lot in politics. He also praised Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain for his kind gestures but added in the same breath that he was comfortable in PPP. He said the PPP has failed to unveil the murderers of Benazir Bhutto.
