KMC to take action against illegal transport terminals

These illegal bus terminals had to be removed then and only legal terminals should be allowed to operate in the city for passenger buses, trucks and other transport means, he said.

Wasim stated this while chairing a meeting at his office on the transport terminals, said a statement.

Municipal Commissioner Dr. Asghar Abbas, city council chairmen of works, land, charged parking, director general works, director anti-encroachments and other officers were also present.

The Mayor reviewed the terminals performance and said that KMC had 22 terminals including Yousuf Goth Bus Terminal, Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal, Mauripur Truck Stand and other bus terminals located in the city.

He said that warehouses which had been established by land mafia in Yousuf Goth illegally would be removed and that land would be used only for the purpose, it was allocated.

He said that the Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal was ready to operate.

The Mayor of Karachi directed officers to ensure hundred per cent revenue recovery from the terminals run by the KMC and the collected amount should be deposited to KMC account only.

He urged the officers to set up duration for achieving recovery targets and the officers concerned make that sure the target was achieved completely within the given time.

He said that action against encroachments in the city should be carried out on larger scale and all the encroachments be removed immediately.

He said all efforts being made to bring improvements in the city with the cooperation and support of the people and the traders community.
