NAB recovers Rs26.886bn in last three years
ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recovered an amount of Rs26.886 billion during the last three years.
Deputy Chairman NAB and his team informed Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice Wednesday regarding performance of the bureau during the past three years.
The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi here at the Parliament House. Members of the committee senators Farooq Hameed Naek, Muzaffar Hussain Shah, Ayesha Raza Farooq, Murtaza Wahab, Minister for Law and Justice Bashir Ahmed Wirk besides Senior Legislative Advisor Malik Hakam Khan and Deputy Chairman NAB Imtiaz Tajwer also attended the meeting.
The NAB officials informed the committee that a total of 2,178 inquiries were authorized to the NAB from 2015 to 2017 and 2,487 inquiries had been finalized including the backlog of previous years. Similarly 1,057 investigations were authorized to NAB in the three years and 1,016 had been finalized.
The committee was told that the conviction ratio was 72.7 percent in 2016 and in 2017, it had been 67.3 percent.
The committee will discuss 'The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016 introduced by Senators Sassui Palijo and Mukhtiar Ahmed Dhamra in its next meeting.
