SC summons Rao Anwar, orders name to be placed on ECL

Supreme Court ordered on Tuesday to put Malir Cantt former Senior Superintendent Police Rao Anwar's name on the Exit Control List (ECL) and summoned him and other senior officials of the Sindh government tomorrow.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar ordered Anwar's name to be placed on the ECL after his attempt to flee the country earlier today, local media reported. Anwar was stopped by Federal Investigation Agency from leaving the country.

SSP Rao Anwar removed from post over Naqeebullah’s killing

Naqeebullah Mehsud's father , while speaking to media earlier, demanded justice for the extrajudicial murder of his son during a jirga of the Mehsud tribe that have camped in the metropolis' Sohrab Goth vicinity.

Anwar is involved in the ongoing investigation against him regarding the‘extrajudicial murder’ of Naqeebullah Mehsud. Naqeebullah was killed along with three other suspected terrorists on January 13, in an alleged encounter with a police team headed by Anwar. However, Naqeebullah’s family claimed that the deceased was innocent and was killed in a ‘fake’ encounter.
