An accountability court resumed on Tuesday the hearing against deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar regarding corruption references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sharif family.

Once the hearing resumed, Judge Muhammad Bashir heard the statements from two NAB witnesses, local media reported. The third witness, Afaq Ahmed, was unable to record his statement.

After hearing the statements, the judge summoned two further witnesses to record their statements and adjourned the hearing to January 30.

NAB files supplementary reference with new evidence against Sharifs

NAB had filed on Monday a supplementary reference that also contained new evidence against the Sharif family in the pending Avenfield flat case.

The references against the Sharif family pertain to the Al-Azizia Steel Mills, Flagship Investment Ltd and Avenfield properties of London. Maryam and Captain (retd) Safdar have been named in the Avenfield properties, whereas Sharif has been named in all three properties. Sharif's sons Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz have been declared proclaimed offenders due to their continuous failure to appear before the court proceedings.
