HEC-funded academic programme launched at AIOU

The three-day training programme was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui.

Speaking on the occasion, he urged the teachers to keep themselves updated about the latest knowledge and learning practices for delivering quality education.

Old concepts of education and teaching practices needed to be reviewed to get the desired results, he asserted.

The teachers, he said should promote creative and critical thinking in the classrooms, so that the students could be able to have a better understanding and perception about their relevant subject.

The training was arranged by the University’s department of distance learning. It was part of the on-going University's professional development’s activities.

According to Dr Aftab Ahmed, Deputy Registrar Training and development, there will be a number of training sessions during the programme, to be conducted by eminent educationists.

The AIOU) will soon launch non-formal teaching programmes in order to provide quality education to the people through distance learning system.

The University has recently arranged various training programmes for producing trained teachers through certified courses.

Those who spoke at the inaugural session included resource person Dr Shuja Ahmed of Peshawar University and the program’s coordinator Mubashra Tufail.
